The crisis worker is there for you. They are the first person you will meet and they understand that you have been through a major trauma and personal crisis.

They are specially trained to support people who have experienced rape or sexual assault.They will be your guide and advocate from the moment you arrive at the Saint Mary’s Centre.

You may not be able to take in what is happening but your crisis worker will be there to reassure you and provide you with the information you need. They will take time to explain your choices so that you feel involved and able to make informed decisions.

Your crisis worker will explain what the medical examination involves and they will stay with you the whole time, if that is what you want.

Your crisis worker is trained to listen to any worries you may have and answer any questions. They will give you time to absorb and reflect on the information you are being given.
